My biggest challenge was the fear of starting a business and going out on my own. For the majority of my life I had always worked for somebody else and depended on that.
It was comfortable but it always seemed to keep me capped at a threshold. The concept of having no one else to "blame" if it all went bad was daunting to me. I started my own business relatively late in my life because I had finally gotten to the point that I didn't want to be "run by anyone" anymore. I inherently knew I had skills that others did not and I WAS/AM very good at what I do. When I began, I was excited and terrified all at the same time. I decided to go for it. Knowing that I was going to sink or swim, but with that decision came the confidence to just go for it. I chose my present business because it really aligned with what I wanted to do, help people. This has been a driving force my entire life. This work involves investigating a business to sort out and clean up things so it can run smoothly and effectively. It's like a puzzle and I always loved doing puzzles as a child.

One time I was doing investigative work for an organization to handle attacks being made against it. It required a great deal of confront and there were times I just wanted to give up. My handling was to look to the greater good and what the consequences would be if I did not continue to fight. By reminding myself of my basic purpose which is to protect, I was able to overcome it. This required one on one contact with this attacker and the absorption of his vitriol on a daily basis for over three years. I was ultimately successful and got rid of him!
