As a teenager, I was NOT academically inclined. High school was a struggle for me; I barely managed to graduate and often found myself prioritizing time at my boyfriend’s house over studies. You know, typical daddy issues.
At eighteen, when a lot of my peers were preparing for college or starting careers, I was pregnant. Going from pregnant teen to successful mompreneur was not an easy path but I pushed through all the barriers to become what I am today. In a situation where many might see only challenges, I saw an opportunity to forge a different but meaningful life path. Initially, the fear of judgment and the immense responsibility of becoming a young parent were overwhelming. Despite these fears, there was a part of me that felt a profound connection and commitment to my partner and our future together, which fortified my resolve. Choosing to embrace this path rather than shy away from it has brought profound rewards. My husband and I have supported each other through numerous challenges and milestones, growing together both personally and professionally. This year, we celebrated our 16th anniversary!

Despite the challenges of becoming a parent at a young age, I have proudly fulfilled my role as a dedicated and effective mom. My 20-year-old thrived academically throughout high school, maintaining a 4.0 GPA and earning a place in the National Honor Society. My youngest skipped a grade and is currently taking Advanced Placement classes to graduate early. These achievements underscore not only their dedication but also the role my husband and I have played in guiding and supporting them every step of the way. My journey as a young mother, rather than hindering me, has enriched my ability to raise strong, capable children, affirming that I have excelled in one of life’s most important roles.
When asked what quality stands out about me to others, my answer is assertiveness. This trait is evident in my dedication to excel in everything I undertake, whether running my businesses or raising my family. My assertiveness allows me to approach every challenge with a clear vision and the confidence to see it through to success. My commitment to excellence is not just about achieving personal goals; it's about setting a standard and inspiring those around me to strive for their best. This determination is complemented by my ability to set clear boundaries. Knowing when and how to say 'no' is crucial, and I have honed this skill to ensure that I maintain a healthy balance between my professional responsibilities and personal well-being. One of the bigger goals I am actively pursuing is securing a government contract. This ambitious endeavor is motivated by a vision to expand our impact and scale our operations, particularly in empowering minority and women-owned businesses.
